Do walls slow down the internet?

You’re using the internet in the living room and it’s fine, but when you go up to the bedroom it becomes irritatingly slow.

Do walls slow down the internet? Of course they do!

The research tells us that the electromagnetic waves that we rely on are able to pass through two walls at most, but the signal will be weakened by each wall.

Wood has the least effect, followed by plaster, concrete and reinforced concrete.

Needless to say the technology geeks have been working on the problem and have come up with Wi-Fi 6 to replace Wi-Fi 5.. If you can’t change the layout of your home, you can buy a new router. Wi-Fi 6 is up to 3 times faster and able to penetrate the walls of your home more easily.

Companies are also designing new phones to compliment Wi-Fi 6 which boosts speeds more and penetrates walls more easily.

If your current phone  was built to support Wi-Fi 5,  it will still work much better with Wi-Fi 6+.

The cost of all this? The Honor 3 Router will only set you back £49.99 (at the time of writing). The new generation Honor 30 phone will be available soon in the UK.
